On June 7th, 2024, CAE Rise revamped the overview page in the analytics portal to display significant events based on industry data in business aviation and how you compare.
These significant events allow you to view the trends that are currently affecting your fleet, they will be updated on a regular basis. Furthermore, Key Data for your organization will appear on the right side of the Overview page.
New version Previous version
How does this help you?
The previous homepage showed top 5 most frequent events that generated one or more exceedance. Whilst of importance, the frequency of an exceedance is not as important as the risk potential if that exceedance actually occurred in the real world of flight operations. To enhance the value of the insights, the new Overview page shows CAE-selected ‘significant industry insights’ and how your operation compares with other operators of the same fleet.
What do we mean by “Significant”? We have chosen this term carefully to align with FOQA/FDM/Risk concepts and, we define significant in this context as; “if this happened in the operational world, a reduction in the safety margin could result generating a threat to the aircraft, crew, ground staff or passengers.”
It is important to note that, the insight may not be significant to you as an operator, but it has been observed in the context of significant elsewhere.
How do we evaluate what’s significant?
Any given exceedance may only have low frequency but, at the same time, a high consequence. Or, the opposite, a high frequency but with low significance. We follow the Shell Risk Matrix model and look for a combination of consequence and likelihood combined to determine actual threat and, hence, significance.
There are many reasons that your training data may have a different frequency, such as context, airport, trained at a different rate or already addressed as an area of training emphasis.
You, as an operator, should decide if you have sufficient training in this area to address the observation and you may find the insight confirmed or indicated by other sources (e.g., FDM or instructor reports). The new page is a launch pad to the exact portal page with preset filters for your convenience and further evaluation. The page will be updated on a periodic basis, and we request customer input and suggestions.
Your data remains visible only to you and this page is intended only as a proposal for thought. It remains your responsibility to establish and, where appropriate, assess the importance of the information presented.
The new page also includes Key Data for your training linked with Rise.
What else is new?
