After successfully pairing with the sim the instructor will see the Training Session page. This is where the session timeline will be displayed along with events detected by Rise and their associated scorecards.
To learn more about the training session page, refer to the content below.
1. Timeline
The timeline appears across the top of the screen. By default, a 4hr session is presented and is split equally in two by a blue dividing line separating each crew member.
2. Crew Members
Crew member 1 is the pilot flying (PF) first in this case, and is presented on the left-hand side in purple while Crew member 2 is represented by the right side of the timeline in grey.
3. Training Events
Training events that are detected by Rise will appear on the timeline as a flag with a green or red coloured
diamond in the center.
4. Current Time
Current time is represented by a white vertical line that progresses from left to right across the timeline.
5. Master Role Switch
To the right of the Crew Member 1 tag is a Master Role Switch button that will switch the whole time segment to the other pilot. This would be necessary if the “Start as PF” selection was not made when the session was created.
6. Dividing Line
The main blue dividing line can be moved left or right to reflect the actual time each pilot acted as PF during the session. Simply left click on the blue line (or place your finger for iPads) just below the timeline and shift it left or right. In this example we will shift it to the left to show Crew Member 1 acted as PF for 1 hour.
7. Role Switching Feature
On the right-hand side of the timeline is another Role Switch button that will switch the PF Role assignment from the white present time vertical line forward and alternate thereafter at each blue dividing line. The Role Switch button is used when the instructor knows a role switch is coming up.
Once the session has been completed and upon review of the timeline and scorecards if the instructor notices that some maneuver assignment changes must be made, they can be made as long as the session has NOT been ended. To change the timeline in the past (to the left of the white present time line) place your cursor just below the timeline at the desired time and double click (place and hold your finger for iPads).
In the preceding example we have assigned 4 detected maneuvers to C2 on the timeline, notice the change in colour on the timeline. This will also be reflected in the list of scorecards that will appear on the left-hand side of the screen (on iPad when in landscape mode).
8. Unpair/Pair Sim
On the top right-hand side of the screen the UNPAIR button will sever communications (close the
communications link) between the simulator and the instructor’s computer. It does not end the session!
When the session is unpaired, a PAIR button will appear. Selecting this button will open the pairing window on the left side of the screen. To pair with the sim, scan the QR code or enter the alphanumeric code in the space provided. Then select PAIR at the bottom right of the window.
9. Reset Timeline
On the top right-hand side of the screen the Reset Timeline button will cancel any role changes or divisions made to the timeline. The timeline will revert to the default display of a 4-hour session divided equally in two.
10. Timeline Zoom Controls
On the top right-hand side of the screen the Timeline Zoom Controls will zoom into ( + ) or out of ( - ) the timeline centered upon the actual present time (white line). Selecting the square in the middle will revert to the default display.
11. Training Events
Training events are maneuvers that are detected by Rise which will then produce a scorecard with insights that represent aircraft parameters such as airspeed and bank angle.
At this time detectable events are limited to Takeoffs, RTOs, Approaches, Go Arounds, and Landings. When an event is detected by Rise it produces a Scorecard and makes it available to the instructor on the paired computer. The Scorecard appears on the timeline at the time it was detected as a flag with a blue diamond or green circle in the center. Each flag represents a Scorecard of one detected event.
